Our History
The beginnings of the church, then called Hedge End Community Church, go back to the early 1980s when a small group of Christians began meeting together for Sunday worship in the Village Hall, Hedge End.
Down through the years the church grew and our vision expanded. In 1994 we acquired the land on which the present church building is sited and from August 1999 we began holding Sunday worship services there and at this point we changed the name to King’s Community Church. People had begun to attend the church from further afield than just Hedge End and this was clearly going to grow.
King’s Community Church now serves an increasingly wider geographic region in Southampton and the Solent area. Our aim is to see more and more people reached by the grace of God and joined into the life of the church.
By the spring of 2006 our building, which seats 450, was full most mornings and so in October 2006 we started two services to accommodate further growth. This has involved many more people in serving, which they do enthusiastically, and has allowed the church to continue growing whilst remaining friendly and welcoming.
